ok folks i am at the point in my workbench where i hava to make a decision a 2' x 4' work space focused on hand work or a split work space each 2' x 2' with a divider one side for hand work and the other for power and benchtop tools.

any feedback?

You would definitely feel cramped on a 2x2 space IMO. If your bench tools are light enough, I'd store them below the benchtop, and lift them up either onto the top, or onto a roll-around cart when you need to use them.
