I have, on several occasions, used the Quick Log In box at the top of the Forum.  Then after getting the Successful Log In screen, it returns me to the Forum, but I am not logged in.  Is it my system or yours?

Must be yours. Try refreshing the page that says you're not logged in.

IE-7.  I now use the regular log-in routine, and it keeps me logged in.  I just don't use the quick version.

Waddy, you might try going to the IE7 Internet Options and deleting the Cookie files before you log in the next time.

I might try that, but I use a product called CookieWall, and it asks me before posting any cookies to my system.  IE is supposed to delete all temp files when I exit.  I don't know if that includes cookies.  But, that's a good idea.  I'll try it.  Don't you love the thought process here, and my way of thinking in print?

I am sure that it is the 3rd party cookie watcher.

In IE7, there are more choices as to what gets flushed when you close the browser. Now in Internet options (by also access by right clicking on IE logo and going to properties) on the general tab you will see browsing history section with a delete and settings button.

If you click on delete you now have a choice of deleting just cookies, just temp files and so forth. Because most cookies are used to persist connections that require logins, that is why if you login once that you dont have to login the next time as the cookie state is set to known.

If you delete the cookie cache it will then prompt you to login, regardless of whether you chose the quick or full login as the cookie is not there.

Well, I tried deleting the cookies, and when I tried using the "Quick Log In" it went through the successful log in screen and back to the enter screen.  I entered, went to the main discussion forum, and was looking at one of the threads, and was going to make a response, and I was not logged in.  I went back, used the regular log in screen, and everything works fine.  When I leave, and come back later, I'll be automatically logged in just fine.  It is only when I use the Quick Log In that I have a problem.

I don't think the 3rd party cookie thing does it.  It is set to always accept cookies from this forum.  It doesn't even ask me any more.  It is a self learning program that asks for about the first 15 or 20 times, and if you click always accept every time, it will quit asking.  I have been using it for about 4 years, and have never had a problem with it.

In IE7 if you go into internet options, browsing history, settings, view files, you will see the cookie files that are in your cache. A cookie for the OLF site should be there...if not either your cookie watcher is blocking it or one of the IE7 settings regarding cookies and privacy are not checked..

There are several cookies from luthiersforum.com there, and I know I manually added this forum to the approved list of cookies.  I'll try it again later and see if it still dumps me.  I can always use the regular log in link and that works fine.
