Think Ive already posted a pic of this guitar strung up prior to french polishing the top. Here it is finally finished and waiting to head off to its new owner.

WOW WOW WOW Martin !!! That is just superb !. I adore the rosette ,,,,,also the bridge tailblock ,,,, in fact the whole guitar is tremendous .

Dont panic mate, you'll be happy to know that No 4 (Hauser based classical) has developed a nasty dip in it's back so Ive had to rip the back off and replace same. I also have to head back to work next week so that should slow me down as well.

Hi Carlton,

Possible a humidity issue with back braces but may also have something to do with going too thin with the back. The new back will be a bit thicker and maybe put in an extra brace.

You want a close up of a stock standard Stewmac rosette?? I havent been brave enough to make my own rosette yet...on the list of things to do this year.

Great guitar Martin! It's not easy building those classical ones, is it? I really like the simplicity of what you've done here. Just let the wood do the talking, that's my direction, too. Alan.

Carlton,

I removed the old back and made up a new one and have successfully fitted same with good results. I made the new back a bit thicker (0.125 rather than .090") and added a fourth back brace in bout area. I also took the sides down a bit at the tail block and heel end of the sides to accentuate the lengthwise arching of the back. Its quite possible the sides were originally too low in the bout area. Anyway all fixed up and the new back is holding its arch nicely in all directions.
