One of my buddies is getting out of a short woodworking venture, and is selling all his machines. I don't have the place (or need) for everything in my ever expanding basement shop, but I know an opportunity when I see one and I couldn't pass this by.

Here's some stuff I'm getting:

Grizzly g1140 edge sander



Grizzly g1071 Spindle sander



Grizzly g1026 3 HP shaper (and some cutters)



Bridgewood 2 HP dust collector



Also an air filter, set of chisels, some clamps, misc stuff. Gonna be a fun weekend!

I meant I didn't have a need or space for all of the other great stuff he was selling. Bur I COULD have bought more...

You dun good. For those of you that have a Grizzly os sander G1071 to save yourself some problems in the future use an anti sieze on the spindle when you change them to avoid galling of the taper in the reciever.
a cheap preventative for an expensive cure if it happens.

Yes, Howard. I'll be using it a lot for making all the molds and forms I'll need for the rest of my life.

QUESTIONS: Do you (or anyone here) use the shaper for making necks? Is it worthwhile to get the spiral cutters? Anyone got any great jigs pix/ideas? I can see myself under-utilizing the shaper for a little while.

FWIW,

I am not buying the shaper in hopes to make necks with it. I am building some raised paneled cabinet doors and some other things as well. Then maybe some necks too.

Terry Kennedy's using a sanding drum and pattern sander to shape his. Sounds a lot safer, or at least less intimidating. (Certainly cheaper, maybe more wear on the drill press though....)
