I like a slight taper... Simple and relatively painless to do...

Here's no.2

And no.3

Thanks all for the beautiful end grafts. Paul, could I suggest you show this beautiful end graft on your site? I went to your site because of your reputation but did not see pics of your end grafts.
KNow any web designers that are super cheap?
Super cheap web designers are like super cheap guitars - you wouldn't want it.
Most of the time I would agree with you, but Paul I sent you a PM.
Im going to market a range of special luthiers trousers....each pair comes with a custom designed butt strip . Anyone interested?
You Know, some luthiers get a Wedgie without special trousers.  I'll think on my level of interest.

I would have thought straight ones would be more difficult to fit accurately (whereas slightly angled ones can be wedged in so the seam is always perfect - assuming the graft & pocket angles are the same). No?
Dave, that is probably true. Another advantage of the wedge is that if the top and back center seams don't exactly match up it will be less noticeable if you use a wedge. I use both straight and angled ones depending on how accurate I have been up to that point...
I don't find them any more difficult. For me, the 90 deg angle is a slam dunk, but I just have to use care on the width. Miters are easier for me on the straight ones. I find it more challenging to get other angles consistent, but the width is easier. It's a wash, IMHO.
