Beautiful work Mike!

Just my 2 cents but I think I would have spun the ambrosia maple so the
break in the pattern would have fallen into the fretboard extension area.

Nonetheless, I would love to have produced such beautiful rosettes and all
these wonderful examples give me something to strive for.

BUT I wanted the open look of the large area with no figure!
it draws your eye to it !
It must work or you wouldn't have been drawn to it!
Plus it keeps the rose from looking to homoginized and typical.

the Maple & Abalone is a cutaway rosewood steel with a Lutz top !With a frog inlay from Paul Boudreau!
It's for a Flamenco guitarist!!!!!
The Ironwood is in cedar for a radial braced classic of
Imbuia from Don of New England Tonewoods.!
Both are going to Montreal for the show and both are sold already!
Man I wish I could keep one!!!!!!

Desert Ironwood from what I've read is the most unstable wood in the world!!!!
It's expensive and hard as all hell !!!!!
BUT i have some more and would not hesitate to buy more!

What width is the abalone at? Did you purchase curved pieces or cut from a blank? Nice job all around!

The abalone is .063 Ablam !
it's the first time I've used it.
very easy to use !
In the maple rose there are wavy lines which do not come out in the pic !

Mattia yes i did -it must be in the archives.

Steve -there is something familiar!Looks alike like yours !But i like your center wood better than this maple.

In Newport the "Duke of Pearl" was there with so much stuff I just went crazy buying pearl-especially good colored stuff.
I have a rose that's BLUE -it's abalone and is just stunning!!!

The Ironwood is my favorite also but the player that ordered the other rose picked his out of 5 examples i showed him.

Gilmer has so much figured wood to pick fromthat's it's hard to decide which to order.

I've got a couple 5-6" diameter ironwood branches that are about 5' long...now I am real curious to slice one open.

Hey Mikey! Up to your usual high standards! Those are just wonderful! I am acquiring quite a good stash of highly figured rosette woods for my own use and just today (I am down in Vancouver, drove here, and fly to Ottawa for a few days tomorrow) picked up some quilted alder! Never ever seen this stuff before! It looks very promising for roses! I just need to work out how I want to do all of that and will be using your work for high inspiration!

We should talk soon...I think we have both been TOOO busy!
