No pressure,
Not bugging,
No demands....
But I am excitedly anticipating the hallowed
                  "Swap Meet"
If the Admins and Mods are anywhere as busy as it is around my homefront, I can understand why its taking a little while longer than originally stated -
In fact everyone I meet these days is insanely busy,
But I was wondering if there was any idea on when it might take place ?????
Sadly there arent any flea markets, tool sales, or auctions, or guitar shows around here
where I live.
So its definitely a high point for someone like me who is gearing up to build!!!
Any info would be greatly appreciated, and I want to thank the organizers of the swap Meet in advance for the extra effort it takes to stage something like that.
Cheers
Charliewood

What is this "Swap Meet" and how does it work?  Do I need to search the archives to find out?

[QUOTE=Hesh1956]Waddy we had a swap meet last summer and it was a very successful and fun event.

Here is a link to the opening thread but you will find many, many more threads in the same time frame just by searching the archives for "swap meet."

Hesh:

That looks very interesting.  It would appear that I have attached myself to a big bunch of Zootaholics with little or no mercy when it comes to buying stuff that goes on a guitar.  SOUNDS LIKE FUN!!!

I am really up to my eyeballs in alligators right now, but soon....

I too was looking around the shop and I have a lot of stuff that I can part with to generate funds to buy more stuff...

In lieu of waiting for Brock or Lance to have enough time to set up a swap meet whould there be any problem with members just posting their surplus material in individual threads in the off-topic section?

My guess is that it will take months before they "slay the alligators" and have enough time to organize the swap meet...at least until after Healdsburg.

Correct me if I'm wrong.

I know alot of people relish the hallowed Swap Meet and my only regret about last years is that I didnt have 10,000.00 - I did however pick up a lovely set of cocobolo handled LMI chisels from Judge Mike... This year Im prepared,
Ive been working out my mouse thread clicking finger,
and have a little stash of funds earmarked for the event!
Id blow it all in one go if I could find a nice British or Scottish infill plane there....hint.

Anyway I didnt bring this up in order to pressure the staff here - they are amazing at keeping this place running smoothly, as well as holding thier own homefronts, families, and businesses down as well - it must be a challenge!!!

As for JJs suggestion that the Off Topic section could be delegated as the temporary home of the Swap Meet - that might just eliminate the need for setting up a whole seperate thread for it...and the extra work involved with organizing it perhaps???
Then afterwards the Admins could just delete the threads or archive them in a backup file somehwere..
I dunno if this is copacetic with the Staff or not,
I know that the auction site has been suggested as well...
I know Im not the only one anxious to buy some goodies... even though waiting builds the sweet sweet anticipation....its also torture~
Cheers

Well, last year we payed a small fee to post things, which is why Brock or
Lance had to give your ID permission to post a thread in a special forum.
What about Luthiers Auctions?

Last years was awesome, I look forward to the next, please give plenty of notice so like Charliewood we can all get prepared and ready. I loved the format, length of time, adds and really just the entire event and I spent way to much money but it was really enjoyable. I would like to see it formated and done the same way.

Mike

Your generosity is overwhelming. Where do you find the time?

Hang tight guys, well see what we can whip up, in the mean time feel free to use the Luthiers Auctions website. We have it set up to allow trading.
