Hesh, I find your responses rather odd. I am simply seeking information that might indicate how successful the one-day technique is before I jump into the french polishing. Do you think it is inappropriate to ask questions like this on your forum?

I think from Hesh's reply he was just being sure you understood that the O'Brien method was not laying down copious amounts of shellac per session but rather by using a quicker flashing solvent you could get more sessions per day therefore a quick build. quick as in less days. I do not think he was questioning the appropriateness of you question.

I have been French polishing for 30 years. some quick methods do attempt to lay-down more shellac in a single session to shorten the process. I also have Robbie's CD. His technique is not far from the traditional method in the amount of shellac laid down per session but rather by using a higher flash solvent allows more sessions per day and uses less spiriting a glazing than traditional method. I don't use Robbie's method but do understand it quite well. I am too much of a traditionalist for it to be my cup of tea but the method is sound.
