I'm not associated with Amazon and don't have any personal gain if you jump on this deal, just wanted to pass along the info...

Delta 18/36 drum sander at Amazon for $498 plus shipping ($150 or thereabouts in the lower 48). Amazon changes prices quickly, so jump on it fast if you really want it.   You'll have to add it to your cart to see the price.

Check the user reviews on amazon about this machine before you pull the trigger on this deal. About half the reviews say the adjustment table is hellish.

I used one in Harry Fleishman's class and it worked fine. This one and the Performax 16/32 are probably the two most popular in the luthier market (as near as I can tell from messageboards).

Thanks for this Jon.  I have been looking to get a drum sander for a long time, and have been a big Delta fan.  I have been watching for this to go on sale so I went ahead and pulled the trigger.  Heck, I figure that if the table adjustment turns out to be a big problem, I can always sell it and get all of my money back at this price.  After reading the reviews, it seems like the table adjustment is a hit or miss thing.  Some people have no problems at all, some can't seem to get it to work.  I am pretty good at working through these kinds of problems so I think I have a fighting chance to make it work well. I have my fingers crossed!
