I use the LMI Universal Binding Machine, which is a great jig. However, I still get a little unevenness in the binding on the back due to the radius at the upper bout. Has anyone tinkered with the plastic foot to reduce the effect of the back's radius?

I know some of you have a "doughnut" on your router base to address this, but I don't know if the doughnut has a lower radius than the plastic foot that comes on the LMI jig.

Don't know if this will help you but I use cheap cutting boards from wally world to cut up and create my own doughnuts and other items.

If that would work it would allow you to experiment and still keep your original in tact.

Oops that would be the white plastic (polyethylene???) cutting boards. Has a similar apperance to UHMW plastic maybe the same stuff. Someone here knows I'm sure.

Pretty easy to machine into just about any shape you need.

Someone posted here or on the other forum a mod to the jig to allow it to rotate about the horizontal plane to accommodate sloped backs.  Maybe a search on binding jigs might find it.

there is more to it that a donut. I have them made from UHMW nylon. They are $15.00 plus shipping. They have an angle to help take out all dome effect on the cutter

John, that sounds great. I couldn't find them on your website, though. How would I order? and will it attach to the foot on the LMI jig, or what other mods will I have to make?
