Hey everyone

FINALLY. We found a new drummer and I get to begin playing guitar
again in church. Problem is, while I've become a bit gear-bloated on the
electric side of things, I'm only familiar with the Avalon U5 to plug the
acoustic into.

How are you plugging your acoustic guitars in if you play them live in
non-mic'd situations?        & nbsp;        

After trying several different things I went to a K&K system. Deiter is a great guy. I am going to order the pure western for my newest build. You can hear  some comparisons at this web site.

James, I'm making an assumption that your church has a sound board of sorts yes?

If so I've used an active pickup, all undersaddle, less feedback potential versus an internal mic and plugged into an active DI box with the 1/4" jack. The DI box will usually require phantom power from the sound board and it is connected to the sound board with a standard XLR cord.

I think I missed the "non-mic'd" comment.

Are you saying that there is no sound system? or just nothing for the guitar to be mic'd.

Hey guys

Thanks for the thoughts. I have a Baggs Dual Source right now, never
used or installed, and kind of hope to trade or sell it for a B-Band UST/
AST combo.

By non-mic'd, I just mean not mic'ing the guitar. Going through a direct
box of some sort. We have a pretty good sound system, but the typical
whirlwind DI's. I wish there were a place to listen through different DI's to
see if I can hear differences so I didn't have to make a blind choice. I'd
like to hear an Avalon vs. the Baggs direct box, and any others I'm
unaware of.

Isn't there a store near you James that you can bring you guitar into and try out a bunch of DI's? You could get the sales guy to help you figure out which one offers up the least amount of white noise.

Even if they only have 3 or 4 different DI's to chose from, your better off.

And surly there has to be a couple of recording studios in your area. Maybe you can get some help there also.
