Hi there OLF'ers
I figured there might be one or two people wondering where I have been lately (really - no-one?)
I just wanted to drop those folks a line and let you know that I havent dropped off the face of the planet...
I have however been taking a break from the shop and luthiery (dust) for a few weeks however - I been dealing with some very serious health problems IMO,
I seem have an infection in my lungs that just wont seem to quit(I really hope that its an infection!!!! although one course of antibiotics hasnt really worked too well) shortness of breath and persistant cough, pain on my ribs(from coughing?),,
Even though its finally prompted me to try and break my nicotine habit, it is an up and down battle at the moment as well - its very frustrating... Im trying to draw on spiritual strength right now..
While all in all Im really concerned and preoccupied with this stuff at the moment, Im planning on returning as soon as possible -
I do miss chatting with folks here, and I miss conversing and learning about luthierie...not to mention looking at guitarporn
and for all your help so far ->
Thanks again I really appreciate it!!! Hope to see you guys again soon,,,
Cheers
Charlie

Hey Charlie

Let your body heal, and once you think it has, give it another two weeks.
You'll find your mind healing as well.

Sometimes you just have to take care of yourself, even if things you love have to be put aside for a while.  Wishing you a speedy recovery!

I have asthma, and every cold, or bout with anything seems to settle right in my lungs and bronchial tubes.  It always lasts several weeks before I can fight it off.  Eat well, and get your general health up, and you can fight it better.  Show up here when you can. Your contributions here are considerable.

Charlie,
You're not the only one with health problems in the luthier world dust related. It is such a pervasive problem and shouldn't be treated with the non-chalance of youth or ignorance.

We've all been warned, but in one ear and out the other. Bill Pentz had a similar condition and that's when he not only got serious about dust collection, he published web info that's available to all of us.

I'm sorry you've been sick. Like most chronic problems, if you eliminate the cause, it should improve. I cough and hack and spit clear liquids frequently, from past (wink, wink) pure stupidity. (Bill's words reverberating in my ears.)

I just refuse to let myself doing anything in the shop now without wearing my dust mask. Those with beards need to consider a hood with forced filtered air. Yep, they make a rechargeable battery pack that fits on a waist belt and goes to a helmeted face mask complete with hose. Yeah, that's extreme but so is DEAD.

I'm glad you posted, we need to hear this regularly to warn folks just getting started. I really hope your condition improves rapidly. Stamping out the smoking can only help. The best to you Charlie. bd

When I quit it was the worse! After every illness there was this increasing realization of impending doom! The expense and hassle was starting to get on me real bad!

   That's the way to go!

Get well Charlie!

Charlie, I started life with breathing issues. I didn't do myself any favors growing up either. Pneumonia twice. Lost count of the bronchitis episodes.   I understand what you are going through. So please do what you need to do to get better.   You were missed. Oh, if there is anything we can do to help, send a PM or a red flare, whatever. Just get feeling better Buddy.
