Looks like a recent guitar (seethis thread ) has made such an impression that its recepient's father wants to purchase one solely as an investment (a really nice compliment for me!). He's inquired about the possibility of using sandalwood for the back and sides. I'm having trouble finding a supplier.

Can any of our sponsors here supply a Sandalwood back and side set, for classical? Or can someone point me in the right direction? I plan to look locally as well.

Thanks!

Seems like it would make for a vary calm guitar player when overcome with the smell of the wood.  Could make for a very calm Guitar Builder too  .  Maybe not such a bad idea.  Wish I knew where you could get some.  Sandalwood, that is.

I have some on order but it could be 2-3 months before it arrives.

I will look into the sandalwood supply over here in Australia, however it is a goverment regulated resource. Traditionally and historically most of the sandalwood has been distilled for it oil or ground and turned into incense.

/\ I can vouch for that. I used to wear Sandalwood perfume oil during my university years...
