I just inherited this band saw. It is old, but works very well.  It is an old Craftsman 12 in Band saw, with 80 in blade.  Doe anybody know if there are an good fences that will fit this (or any decent universal fences for a 12 " Band saw?).  I have googled, and follwed alot of links, but have not come across anything that seems to work.

Thx

Glenn

Glenn, Rockler has an add on band saw table that would work. However, you could also by some t-track and make your own for a lot less cost. Plans are available at sites such as PlansNow. You will give up some cutting height but the extra table size is a good trade-off.

I have almost that exact same model as my second band saw - not in nearly
as good shape though. I keep a small blade on that one for freehand cutting,
so I've never really looked for a fence.

It's a great old saw, though I've always intended to replace the guide block /
bearing system on mine with something better.

Hi David,

I got the saw from my Mom's friend who used it specifically for small scroll-type work.  It currently has a new blade that is very small, and suitable for alot of curves, etc.  I was thinking of getting another blade that was bigger - perhaps a 1/4 " - as I want to build a couple of guitar molds first.  I also want to use this for cutting braces - which is why I was asking about a fence.
