Just wanted to Thank Sylvan Wells for all his hospitality and sharing. I don't know about the rest of you folks but when Sylvan offered up a "Jig Seminar" for only $250. I jumped on it. Unfortunately, due to lack of interest it was "cancelled". HOWEVER, Sylvan was nice enough to extend an invite to me anyway which I gladly accepted. He was kind enough to spend several days, prior to the Symposium, explaining and demo-ing his jigs and other building techniques. His wife is a wonderful woman and a great cook as well. You guys missed it! Anyway, a heart felt THANKS to my friend...Sylvan!
P.S. Thanks also for the intros to some realy cool Luthiers! and all the great stuff!!

HERE ARE SOME PICS OF SYLVAN'S SHOP:

THESE ARE JUST PART OF THE MAIN SHOP. THERE ARE OTHER ROOMS...FRETTING, REPAIRS, SPRAY BOOTH, DRYING, AND WOOD STORAGE, NOT TO MENTION SHOW ROOM AND ENTRANCE AREA. I MUST ADMIT... I HAVE SHOP ENVY...

Wow, what an incredible work space! My entire shop is about the size of the room shown in the last picture. As my Dad would of said, I wish I had Sylvan's shop and he had a better one.

Envy!!! Forget that!!!

The word that came to my mind was "demoralizing".
After looking at Sylvan's shop I want to go throw sticks at mine. I will never be that organized, that logical, that tidy.

Sylvan, my hat is off to you. No wonder you produce such nice instruments.

looking at such tidyness makes me want to put shades on all the windows so no one can look in.

are you sure he works in there, that it isn't just for show? he doesn't have a place out the back dwhere he really works?

technitool is running a messiest workstation contest. I think I'm going to win with the workbench that has a wood lathe buried under a ton of other stuff, but you guys can always try.
