Just for fun here's a couple of my latest. The first one is actually the simplest one I've ever made. For me, its unique in its simplicity, but still not a flamenco. Its been done for a while but I hadn't had the chance to finish French polishing her until recently. Cypress/Spruce/Tornavoz, First Epoch Torres plantilla (FE13) and no side purflings, despite my preference for them. She's shipping off Monday and her name is 'la cosecha'.





The next one is also the FE13 plantilla, but with Madagascar Rosewood back and sides. Her name is 'la lagrima':



I probably shouldn't have taken this picture with the windows open...

Absolutely beautiful work, Joshua! That last photo really speaks to what the visuals of FP is all about.


How does the tornavoz (sp?) affect the sound? Does it influence resonant frequencies? projection?

Where did you obtain the pattern for FE13 ?


I'm trying to collect as many as are available, I was able to get SE 127 from the owner in the UK. I've got an original tracing of SE 151 A if you are interested.......

I've already told you what I think of them Joshua. But for the rest of the forum, they are up to your usual incredible standard, you truly are a world class builder whose guitars will be treasured and talked about for generations to come.

Lance, Ken, the 'shiny' thing in the soundhole is the tornavoz, just go and look at Joshua's website, everyone should anyway, he explains about it there.

Refined, immaculate work. Your guitars recognizable by maker--nice place to be.    

I notice your heel stacks appear to begin higher up off your neck blank than I'm use to seeing, is this because you use a thicker neck blank to accomodate the v-joint at the head? Also, what neck thickness do you prefer at the 9th fret?

The tornavoz questions (shiney thing in the soundhole) are very difficult to answer. I get so many questions about it that I did my best to explain my thoughts and experiences with it on part of my webpage: Tornavoz

Marc - very good question and an a very observant eye. You're correct about the thicker neck shaft to facillitate the V-joint.

David - I'm right there with you on the tracings and such. I'll send you a PM.

Exceptional as always...really inspirational...

Everytime I see one of your guitars with a Tornavoz I am convinced that I have to build a Torres copy with a Tornavoz.

I am also very interested in any Torres or other historic Spanish guitar tracings or measurements.
