Why don't double top guitars typically have nomex between the top and bottom plates under the bridge and around the soundhole? From the examples I've seen, they all have spruce or cedar between the plates in those locations.

Those are the areas under most stress and need a better/stronger area. Besides it would be too hard to create an area strong enough to accept the tension of the strings on the bridge plate and pins with nomex in between.

I do that way as I use pin type bridges and need something more substantial for the string balls and pins as Peter points out. I also want something to install the rosette into as the top "skin" is thinner than a rosette.
