Hi y'all,

I'm Rud (Edd's brother)

I have a sample pictures of mango wood body blank. It's just came from our factory last week. I try to cut it for guitar material. Anybody knows that wood can be use for guitar material or not ?

Please advise,
Rud

Hi Rud
Mango is an evergreen tree in the Sumac family. Also bears fruit. It is used by some for guitars. Very ptetty wood you have.Bobc38592.447337963

Hi Rud,

Here in Hawaii Mango is possibly the second most common wood used for ukuleles (Koa being by far the most common). Also you will occassionally find a guitar made from Mango. I've played a Mango/Redwood OMish guitar built by Bob Gleason which at the time he said was the best sounding guitar he ever made. How much of that sound he attributed to the Mango though, I don't know. But it did have a beautiful sound to it.

I think the biggest knock against Mango right now is that people don't think of this as instrument wood. But this seems to be slowly changing. I noticed a while back that Mike Doolin offered Mango on his website as a back and side wood option.

That's a gorgeous piece you've got there. I say put it up for sale. With zoot like that, it'll sell.

I will have some very nice figured mango up for sale soon. It does seem to be gaining in popularity.

Sorry about the previous post guys and gals.

Rud, that's really nice looking wood. If it has a decent tonal quality, you will be able to sell it. Heck, I would use it. It's really cool looking.

Rud, I'd definitely buy it. I have some wood sets put back that I don't have a clue about their usefullness for acoustic instruments, eg. black cabbage bark, but you'll never know until you give it a try. If they don't work for guitars, guess I'll build boxes.

Do you mean 7.9 inches X 22 inches x 2.1 inches? If so you should be able to ask at least $50 a board and get it. I hope this helps.
