Howdy All.

I am working on a light colored wood(Sycamore) and it was recommended to put a coat of Shellac and then a final few coats of a clear finish.
My question is...Is Urethane compatable with Shellac or should I use something else?

Thanks for you help!

Walter

Walter,
I'm no expert on finishes, but it is my understanding that pretty much anything can go over Shellac with one caveat, you make sure you use DE-waxed shellac sealer under any finish. A finish on top of waxed shellac will not adhere properly. Good luck!

Urethane will go over just about anything including shellac

I can agree with what's been said- except the important thing to remember here and with all finish questions- TEST IT on scrap first!
