Well, by the end of this weekend I'll have two dreadnought boxes together, and I've been thinking about the neck - specifically the neck angle and using routing templates. I'm going to build a jig to use with StewMac templates, and was wondering if I should build in a 1 1/2 degree angle per the MacRostie plan or should I build the jig perpendicular to the plane of the top of the neck and use shims to achieve the appropriate angle? Or do I just rout the tenon at 90 degrees and then tweak the angle with hand tools. I plan on building nothing but dreads for a few years, so it is unlikely the neck angle will change.

How are you all doing it?

My thoughts are to adjust by hand. but many have good results pre setting. To me those little finite tasks are among the things that I really enjoy doing. Neck angle sets, inlay cutting and channeling, brace carving...Heck!!!! come to think of it I love all luthierie

I know you are thinking about a non adjustable jig, but you should check out the jig of Paul Woolsons. Once it is adjusted for a Dread you will not have to reset it, but in the off chance that you ever make another type of guitar it will easily accomadte it.

Thanks. That's a great looking jig. I have something similar, but mine is
rigid for one angle only. Being able to adjust it makes it so much better.
So many jigs to build -- so little time!
