Well I finally met my 1st OLFer, as some of you know from reading his post about meeting me. What a great guy. My wife and I and Shane went out for Mexican food, then kind of snuck around a lumber yard in the dead of night after eating, checking out some old growth logs, and then came home and talked about tonewood the rest of the night. Well, Shane and I did. My wife tended to wander away.
Shane knows more about spruce than anyone I've met or talked to. The man actually goes out and cuts down trees. Ah, if only I was younger.
He brought me a top set of Lutz spruce. It's what he harvests, and this spruce is great. Very tight grained, almost perfectly quartersawn and it rings like a bell. I can't wait to work with it.
Well we talked into the dead of night, and when I got up, (which was about 11:00 am) he was gone. I imagine he was hard at work on his day job.
Anyway, it was a pleasure to meet him, and anytime your in town, feel free to call us, cuz we got another couch that some say is even more comfortable than the one you slept on!
Thanks for coming down Shane. Hope to see you again, eh!
