Yes I saw it was a wedge shape, but I just couldn't live with the end cap not being in line with the back of the body. I think it would look much more 'thought out' if the neck heel/end cap was parallel to the back. At the moment it looks as if the neck was made for a different guitar.

Just a matter of taste.

Agreed. I'm planning on 'slanting' the heel on the neck for the wedge guitar I've got in the works, for the reasons you state.
