The Williams jig (inspired by Harry Fleishman's famous rig) is a really good thing. I built mine in a day & the cost was very reasonable.
Some good plywood, a 10 or 12" lazy susan (I forget which)& a set of industrial drawer slides is all you need... Oh yeah, you'll need a decent tablesaw.
I used 1/4" Lexan scraps for the laminate trimmer mount section & 3/4" aluminum square stock with spacers between for the articulated head.
Don has very good pics & instructions on his website.
For anyone planning to build more than a few instruments, I highly recommend it!

So, It took a while, but I finaly cut the binding ledge tonight and thought I would post the results.

I cut a few test pieces on the flat, but there I don't have any curved pieces to test on, so.... to the back I went. And let me tell you, it was simple, easy. Worked like a charm.

I did make a few modifications as per some responses to the post and hot diggidy, it worked well.

I watched the Taylor factory friday binding video a couple of times as the "user guide" and noticed a few things that helped gain confidence that I could do it. And It worked (I think I may have mentioned that).

So, here are the pics.

Thanks for looking.

Very satisfying when a plan comes together.

Looks great, Rod! I'm glad to see more people in the "fixed router camp" getting good results...

I'm impressed!

You could call this the Hot-ROD Binding Jig

That's not a bad idea. Maybe Tracy wants to market it.

Or maybe I will just give away the plans. Wait, it's so simple, anyone who can build a guitar can build this jig/machine.
