Apparently L benito guitars has them and the reviews are outstanding. The wood is thousands of years old and was logged quite some time ago. Does anyone have any available, or can you not get them in the U.S.? Here is a link.L benito guitarsIplaytheoldies38740.8349189815

i dont know about "alerce"

but i do know that there is always someone trying to come out with some new BS wood, trying to get an angle on the guitar market.

Ever since Brazilian went CITES and people saw how the price went silly, there has been species after species of "wonder-wood" coming out,

bottom line is the guy probably came across some of this wood at a good price, it is acceptable for guitar tops, and he is pushing it as the new holy grail of whatever.
