I agree, Mark. Del has always seemed reclusive and mysterious, even to us West-Michiganians. Good job, and thanks for the insight.

Thanks friends! Del is indeed both mysterious and reclusive, and that is hard to pull off when you are well-known around the area (and now further afield!) and have lived in the same place and had the same shop/store for 35 years!
It was interesting to see how he did a few things because he learned largely on his own, and doesn't use others' experience too much, or the internet at all. He probably gets more done than we who sit in front of our computers do! He's contracted to build four guitars a month. He does things differently than I've ever seen them done before. Definitely doesn't follow the flock!

I have some Michigan friends who moved to the U.S. east coast, and they've told me that they kept running into people from (you guessed it) Michigan. They said it was kind of spooky. I guess that's where all of Michigan's current population exodus is going. Hope the folks you met were friendly.
