Thanks everyone, WOW, that's more choice than i anticipated, you all rock! Now i'll have to do some homework and do different tests on a bunch of stuff, great! Keep 'em coming guys!! I must admit that i have a little weakness for corian so far though!

And for bone, go to your local pet supply store in the 'doggy aisle', and look for sterilized bone, about $3 each. Cut them up with your band saw.

I just did 3 guitars using a bull's horn. It's very dark and yeah! it stinks too. It polishes up like a nice piece of indian jewelery. It really brought the natural tones of the guitar out. I also learned you can heat it up in a vise and straighten it out. It sands and files great and it really matches the aesthetics of the guitar. Of course this is only my opinion.

Bone may stink, but as long as you're not breathing the dust, I don't think it's at all toxic. I don't think you could say the same thing about any of the synthetics (Corian, Ebonex, Tusq, acrylized woods, etc). Just something to consider.
