1.) I have PM'd and emailed WalterK in regard to is donation of tuners I have not heard back. I have not seen him post in weeks does anyone know if there is an issue here?

George that is very nice of you considering you are giving the case. The orignal specs were for Gototh 510 with ebony buttons but if this is not convent we could do with others.

Well, I have been away from the OLF for "a while", due to 3 simultaneous deadlines (2 programming projects, and finishing my first guitar by a Mar 15th deadline.)

Looks like things got all shook up with the charity guitar since I was here last, and St. Jude's was still iffy. Quite frankly, unless the OLF charity guitar went to an avowed racist, third world dictator, or high-ranking US republican, I am OK with wherever it goes. It sounds like, from Bruce's suggestion to change the name to "Patriot" that there must have already been a landslide to give it to the son of a vet. I'm cool with that.

I'm also a member at the luthierforum, and there are currently 4 charity guitars in progress to be given to a military family (both the husband and wife are in the Army) with 2 boys. They were/are a musical family, and they all played guitar. When Katrina hit, they lost everything, including their guitars. One of the lutheirforum member's church was sponsoring the displaced family, and that's how that connection got made. I was able to come up with 2 sets of tuners and neck wood for 2 guitars, and I'm proud to be a tiny part of all of these charity guitars. However, I am especially proud of those of you who are doing the actual building of the guitars. Maybe by this time next year I will have the cajones to offer my services on a charity build, and not just materials.

Anyway, just thought I'd pop in and say "Hi!", and offer my applause and cheerleading to those of you doing the guitar building. I won't vote, to help swing the decision toward whichever recipient the builders see fit. So, my not voting doesn't mean I don't care.

p.s. Bob Cefalu generously donated a beautiful Walnut B&S set toward one of the other charity guitars, as well as the B&S set for this OLF charity guitar. He's a MAJOR materials contributor, and projects like these require material contributions as well as labor contributions. I certainly don't want to imply that materials contributors should not vote, I just feel like the fingerboard I donated for this project is minor in comparison to the labor and major material contributors, that's all.DennisLeahy38757.7983912037

I have an issue, no blueprint. Is the body coming with a mold? Michael, did you say you were mailing me a print? Sitting on the bench, waiting my turn to go in the big game.

The top is joined, a beautiful Sitka top with major medullary rays and silking, straight from the '03 harvest in beautiful Vancouver Island British Columbia.

Sanded clear yesterday, it rings like a chapel bell on a clear cold Sunday morning. With some Sunday-go-to-meeting Red abalone and some Rondak braces, this thing ought to howl!

Had a printer break down. it is fixed print will priority mail out tonight.


Anyone have an OLF SJ mold they would lend to Bruce it would be a great help. I would but have two commissions in process that require that mold

I'll build one from the print.

Actually if the mold could come to me, that would be helpfull. I'll get the sides in order and get the back done. Then send it along to BD with the boat in the mold.
Can anyone help? I really don't have time to build another mold.

Paul if he follows the plans it will be 2-11/16 from 14th fret(neck joint) to FB side of upper transvers brace

Paul, Anyone in the Wisconsin area with an OLFSJ mold? And yes, the top will be built per the print only. Sitka okay with everyone? It's a nice top, face is good and clean, evenly spaced, medium grain, lively, lots of silk and medullarys. I love it when you handle a top and you can hear it talking to you. Anyone know what I mean, just slipping it around, you can hear the sound transmission. I had that happend with some Addy brace stock I sent to Udi. Maybe I'm halucinating?

One brace it is, John H. What do you recommend on the radius for the single transverse brace? Flat or 25foot? My guess is 25 for everything but that brace which is flat? Bruce Dickey38758.6680208333

You got it Bruce, 25" radius for everything but the T-brace and it should be as flat as Kansas.
