I'm wanting to stain some portions of my most recent guitar and was wondering if I should use water or oil based stain for compatability with shellac. Any other issues I need to know about when using stain with shellac? I appreciate your time!

Shellac is compatible with almost everything, however it may dissolve alcohol based stain.
