Thanks, Tracy. The scale on this one is the short, "octave mandolin" scale- 21 inches. I've built most of mine to the 23.5 scale but I like this shorter one more and more. It's much easier to play melody and regular mandolin type lines with it. I've found when offered a choice most players like the short, because of that.
I got a lucky break recently when Martie, one of the Dixie Chicks, bought one of these from me. She liked the short scale because she is used to a regular mandolin.
One day I'll build one with a guitar-shaped body like you are doing but I haven't done that yet!
