Hi,

Have anyone ever tried those strings? I'd like to know how they are compared to other big labels'. It's claimed on its website, http://www.webstrings.com, that the strings are produced from the same places as other renowned brands but attractively cheaper because the middelmen is cut out in that the products are only available online.

Are these strings really as good as they're claimed?

Thanks for any comments.   ParamesB38843.4907407407

I will not buy my strings any where else. They sound great and how can you beat the cost? I mostly use their Portland Acoustics.[phosphor bronze] Also free shipping on orders over $12!    Ron M.

If Lavin were a biologist he could tell us what kind of acoustic frog this is.

My specialty is marine systems. That said, it seems to be related to the poison arrow rain forest frogs, like a tomato frog type
Or it could be one of those "made up guys" that artists, especially computer animators, like to do with color patterns.

If I had to guess I would say . Dendrobates acousticus

Does that help?

Even less expensive are strings from Euphonon. It's a 12 set minimum, but it works out to $1.85 per set. That's all I've used for 3 years and I'm very pleased with their performance.

Dendrobates acousticus aureus. It's the rare purple/blue variety found in sub tropical areas around endangered rosewood trees. I am amazed that you actually found a picture of one, and in the EXACT same stance on the EXACT same guitar as the other variety! I heard that the whole entire begginings of luthiery started in the ancient forests thousands of years ago due the these frog species. The natives heard the resonant sounds coming from the frogs calls, and tried at first eating them. They thought the sounds would come from them after they were eaten!!
Once they figured out they are also deadly poisonous, they buried their dead, and they stopped eating them and started hollowig out treees to make the same noises. The rest is history..
I really want to do a poison arrow frog guitar one day. So much color

Craig,
You are indeed correct. The frog is a Dendrobates acousticus aureus.

But who here knows whether it is an African or European Dendrobates
acousticus aureus?

Now, if you will excuse me...I have a couple of shrubberies that need

I would assume you can tell the difference by the calls they make. The aureus makes a noise like "nim" very loudly, while the other sounds like clapping coconuts.

It's really quite obviouse....
Some who eat them or have been poisoned just have flesh wounds, other whole communities are left crying "bring out your dead"
