Anyone using the Ridgid BS1400 with the 6" riser? I just put a riser on mine today. Required a 26mm wrench...which no one seems to have. The new blade protection cover (with extension) needed to be ground to fit on properly( no biggy, but a little odd). Anyone else done this "conversion" ?

Dave, i have the exact same BS with 6" riser and it was a tight fit for the blade protection cover as well, luckily for me, i was just able to turn the wing nut slightly enough to bring it upward and get to the 12" mark for resawing, that is if i understood you clearly though?

Mine's been converted for some time (pre-orange paint), and I don't remember any major problems. Minor difficulty with the blade guard, but it worked. I just resawed some padauk backs and sides for a hollow body electric guitar, and as usual it did the job nicely.

Thanks guys...Mine is pre-orange too. I also found that the blade( the 105") was a bit tight going on. I still put some tension on it...I figure it's going to stretch a little. Overall I guess I like the machine...but I never re-saw anything. I guess now I can start playing with that end.

I bought the Rigid 14" last year, and immediately ordered the riser kit, then installed it as soon as it arrived.

I've been very happy with it. I also ran into a couple of fit-up issues when I mounted the riser kit, but they were minor.

I've found the guitar to be just the ticket for the sort of occasional resawing I do.

Best,

Michael
