Jim

I don't use vacuum yet, I'm just setting up to do my bridges with vacuum but from what I have been told your clean up routine sounds good.

You can use a damp rag, might be worth following with a hairdryer as Mario suggests, just for a few seconds.

The last one is tough to answer depends on glue strength, Mix, and if you preheat the components.RussellR38869.6989583333
Hesh, that's the one. The "Little Dipper"....

The trick to getting the Hot Pot to run a steady temp is to keep it at least 3/4 full of water. More is better....
Yes... I saw your post about this before. I tried it and I get the same variances but they just cycle over a longer period of time.

Maybe I got got a bad one.

Mine is exactly the same way Brock, more water just means longer cycle times.

Here's what I use. Proctor Silex. 13$ or so...

On the model I have, I just need to keep the temperature control at the very minimum and it's at 140 in a few minutes.

I also noticed that the kind of water you use will make a difference. Just like in a vaporiser. If your water is salty, it will heat up more so that soft water. I have a well at home and the temperature will be a bit more erratic. With distilled water, it stays very constant.

That's why they say to add a pinch of salt to a vaporiser if it's not producing enough steem.

I forgot to mention that Consolidated Plastics (here) has many different size bottles that will suit your needs.

I also should mention something else: I work in an antique repair shop, and I see lots of old hide glue joints that didn't hold up all that well. I'm certainly not poo-pooing the stuff; I really like it. But it does seem to get quite brittle and weak after even less than 100 years sometimes. I don't know if this is because it was of poor quality to begin with, or if the joint was poor to begin with, or what. Just an observation.
