Hey everyone
Tonight I did a few drawings based off the current SJ pattern I have
(Olson/Ryan). First I extended the waste 1/4" on each half, so by 1/2"
total. Next, I played with the lines of the lower bout. I left the width the
same, but one has less arch in the curve from the tail block. In reality, it's
about 1/4" at the area of greatest difference. My question is what sort of
tonal change this will make, theoretically? Bracing the same, will reducing
the arch of this curve significantly decrease the bass, or is this type of
difference in this area most likely un-noticable by the ear? &n bsp;
I tried my best to represent what I'm talking about with photoshop. The
black outline represents the arch of the SJ I currently have drawn up, with
the widended waste. The wood outline shows where I decreased the arch.
The black arch is exagerated, but you get the idea. I'm not MichaelP
when it comes to illustration!
