After over a year in iraq, I am proud to say that my brother Sgt.Rusty "stove" Gage has landed in the usa and will be home in a few days.

We are so proud and relieved to have him back safe and sound. Others in his unit were not as lucky, and my heart goes out those families.

Here is shot of him during one of his duties, which on this day was to guard senator Reed from R.I.

Thats the stove to the left of the senator.

Great news Matt... I'm happy for you and your family, but also saddened by the loss of so many of our soldiers. Let's all keep their families in our thoughts and prayers.Don Williams38428.309375

WELCOME HOME STOVE!

Congrats Matt, tell him we appreciate his service!

Future generations of Iraqis will benefit greatly for all that he and others did for that country.

My heartfelt thanks goes out to Stove. His effort is historical and he should be proud of his accomplishments. We certainly are!

not so lng after the end of our geopolitical misadventure in viet nam, during the time of the ussr's involvment in afghanistan, arlo did an incredibly sad song called, as i recall, "when a soldier makes it home".

we should all be thankful that not only did matt's brother make it home, but that he is doing so with all the honour and respect due to him, unlike the unfortunate veterans of that earlier conflict.

I guess the guys in his unit started calling him that, he`s been called Rusty his entire life, so they call him rusty stove....the stove.

On March 21 RI channel 12 will start a 5 part series on A Battery, 1/103rd
FA. (Rustys battery.) It will run on the 6PM news. Mon thru Friday all next week
and the series will examine different facets of life and duty in Iraq. The
series will also be avaialbe on the WPRI website, www.wpri.com and
http://www.wpri.com.
