What is the deal with the 4 1/2 plane, "who" did "what" to it? It looks great.

Brock- google "woodworking at rex mill". Johnny Kleso, known as rarebear redid the wood and polished the sole and sides. The japanning is original. This is for sale because I have an iron LN 4 1/2 and the bronze anniversary 4 1/2 confirmed on order. Johnny did a number of planes for me. Maybe I'll add a photo just for the grins. He is somewhat disabled and has suspended plane work for a while. A fine gentleman too. This plane will smooth all but the most ornery wood-heavvy and wide. The Hock steel in it was $55.Type 15= 1931-1932.
The photo showing the several planes Johnny did for me is in HTML- I can't upload.MTMiketobey38915.8573842593

Just out of curiosity Mike; do you know who makes those chisels for LMI? I heard they were German, but I'm not sure...?

Oh, great looking tools!

Their catalog says Germany, but no marking on the chisels to confirm that. I have no complaints about these chisels except that they are lacquered(blades)-LMII didn't know this when I asked. To get that high polish, the backs have rounded edges. I flattened the two widest. I probably have about 60 -75 chisels and even though these have good steel and are aesthetically the most elegant, I just haven't used them. I do believe LMII when they claim that the 1,2,3, mm are fairly unique in the chisel market.Best regards, MT
A small part of the herd. I know, I have an addiction.
