So on #2 I'll have black horn bridge pins and matching end-pin.

What would be the best choice for a strap button at the heel? I know the blantantly obvious is another black horn pin, but then again, as I ponder this scenario, I feel uneasy about it for some reason...

What would you guys use?

Thanks,

Al

Alain,

Stew Mac has these options:

I think the Snakewood or Koa one would match your binding.

What color is your other hardware? You could always match that with a gold or chrome endpin.

I think I would go with Joe's second choice. I can't see how you would drill a hole big enough to ream out properly for the endpin type anywhere around the heel of the neck.

Oh, I miss read your request. LMII has blackhorn pins with the screw attached...no reaming necessary, just a pilot hole and voila!

Alain, i bought silver strap buttons matching the tuning machines of my no 2, Joe's advice is good and Stew Mac carries them in either gold, silver and black IIRC.

I use the oversize metal ones from AllParts. They are not as pretty, but If they save a guitar from being dropped they are worthwhile.

I haven't used a strap in 30 years, and they were always the ones that tied to the peghead. Does anyone use those anymore?

Yes Ron, I still tie my straps off at the peghead. I find the guitar balances better that way.JBreault38918.6409953704

Planet waves makes a flat black set, with a very deep groove for the strap - I like those alot.

I also like the oversize. The strap will never slip off these

Yes...err.. thanks Joe... I guess I was having a banjo moment (luthiers equivalent of blond moment...) ducking for cover now...

I just ordered some black horn pins, end-pin and strap button...

My heel on this guitar is flat, a la Traugott and Froggie Bottom...

I've always tied at the headstock as well. However, I've swithched all of mine over to the Martin Strap Button.
