In the second song, Never got to Pernambuco, he does something that sounds like he's bending with a trem bar. I can't for the life of me figure out how he's doing it. Any clue?

I think he's just using a vibrato but with the whole chorded hand and not just a note... That, or it's just a jedi mind trick where he 'wills' it to vibrate..

alain, that was my first thought but if you listen, the note drops in pitch when vibrato-ing. If it was bent with the left hand it would raise in pitch. The first time it looked as though he grabbed the low E and pulled it causing the other strings to slack a bit in pitch. That would be just nuts.

Paul,

Don pushes forward on the neck. You'll notice in his righthand technique he braces the heel of his palm just above the bridge. It's a great test of the dovetail neck joint.

Serge, the first piece I played on your #2 was a Don Ross tune called "It's Fun Being Lucky".

And this is why i said you were an accomplished player in my thread buddy!

Alain -- thanks for posting the link!

If you get the chance to see Don Ross -- it's well worth the price of admission!   Not only is he a great player -- but he has a good stage presence and is pretty funny.

Anthony, he's coming to Ottawa on September 12th... I'll be there for sure...
