I just saw Karl's post and thought I'd post a couple of pics of an SJ I'm working on. It's a Ziricote SJ with a Bocote back wedge and Bocote bindings. The woods worked very well together. This particular piece of Bocote is a little busy visually at least for me to use for backs and sides, but I like it as a complimentary wood.

Beautiful guitar Jimmy!!

Question about the Ziricote. I love the grain pattern typically seen in the wood, but most of the pictures on vendors websites show the unfinished wood as having a distinctly "gray"-ish coloring. Your Ziricote finished to a very nice brown shade. Did you add a toner to the finish?

Pete

ziricote has that dusty / grey kind of look until finish is on it, then it goes brown/green.

Beautiful work Jimmy.

Peter it's amazing how much the color of ziricote changes with finish. From greyish green to beautiful browns. I don't know what Jimmy did but I'd to bet there is no toner added. I could be wrong Bobc38896.5172569444

Here's a pic of the top and the neck. The top is German Bearclaw. Neck is a 5 pc. laminate (Curly Honduran Mahog./Curly Maple/EIRW/Curly Maple/Curly Honduran Mahog.) The finish is Addam Starks' nitro and Larry Robinson did the FB inlay.

Re: SJ designation. I call it a small jumbo. Lower bout is 16". It just looks bigger because it's a true circular bout. Generally most true jumbo's have a 17" or bigger lower bout.

Smoly hokes! That's beautiful.
I would vote for a view of the sides.... I'd like to see more of that contrast between the sides and bindings.

Por favor.

Steve

I love your work Jimmy, always slightly outside the box, an innovative.
Larry Robinson did the FB inlay.
Finally, someone hired him to do a restrained inlay! I suspected he had it in him.

Jimmy, that whole guitar is tastefully appointed, and your craftsmanship is, as always, outstanding. Everybody is gonna want one just like it!
