Well here are a few shots of #3 looking a bit more like a guitar.

Cheers,

Thanks Todd,

The B/S are Claro Walnut, they have some really cool figure when wetted. Yes, it is a double "X" braced back. Here is a shot of the profile.

Appreciate that Hesh....yeah, a bit of finish on the X cap, thought it would look cool. The color in the pics is way off as the X cap is Claro Walnut as well and blends nicely with the back as you peer into the sound hole.

Cheers,
Greg

All I can say is this box has the best volume, tone, and responsiveness of the 3 I have built. Does this translate into a better sounding guitar, I hope so!

Greg, that looks great and I agree with the others that bracing looks really nice.

Thanks Gents....

I'm going to use flamed maple binding with a thin ebony purfling line on the body, and flamed maple binding on the fretboard. The butt-wedge is going to be ebony bordered by a thin line of maple.

Cheers,
Greg

Yes sir, what a great looking guitar inside and out!

Congrats Greg, that is one sweet axe my friend!

Love everything about it, do you find that the soundport helps a lot for volume?

Thanks for sharing!

Greg, that looks great, and I love that wood combo.
The fact that you are using curly maple for binding is just icing on the cake.

Here's a little shot to give an idea of what's awaiting, how this combination works.

Hey Steve, I love your guitar, hope mine turns out as nice. I really like flamed maple binding as well, can't wait to see it all come together, not too far off now!! By the way, how did that one sound, were you happy with the wood combination?

Cheers,
Greg

Thanks, Greg! As for the sound---you know, I haven't heard it yet! The shot I posted was taken at Tony's, then the guitar was shipped to my bro's, and I have yet to see it all spiffed up. This was a collaborative effort, and his move to N.C. tended to make things stall a bit. So I'm supposed to get it during the Christmas break, and I'll have my first chance to hear it. John (my bro) tells me it sounds great.
As for the wood combo--I just love it. Walnut is a fantastic wood to use, and that curly Claro is a dream.
Well...you know that!
Best of luck on the rest of the build. I like the idea of a thin ebony purfling line. That'll look perfect.

Steve

Greg, that is looking very nice. Claro walnut....hmmm hmmm...nice. Cool rosette. The black purfling line with the maple binding will look really sweet. The black purfling line with the black purfling around the rosette I think will pull all of together nicely.

The only thing I am having trouble visualizing is an ebony end graft with a thin maple purfling line. Does the back have an ebony centre strip? Hope you don't mind me poking my nose where it doesn't belong -- but -- I'd go with a curly maple end graft with a black purfling line -- I think it'll look better with the rib purfling/binding scheme you have in mind.

Steve -- that's killer looking under finish. I'd love to see that one when it's all finished.

Looks great, Greg!
I`ll second the suggestion for maple bindings and end graft. The contrast is beautiful with walnut.

Thanks for everything gents, I'll take all of your thoughts into consideration when I get to the binding/purfling/end graf stage.

Cheers,
Greg
