Dennis Ecklund
Bradenton, Florida.

Corporate spin doctor by day, tinkerer at night.

Previous occupations include the machine trades (prototype machining, tool-making) and photojournalism.

Married for 38 years to an absolutely brilliant woman. (She gets my awful puns, and more importantly, tolerates them.)

Playing guitar rather badly for more than 40 years. After the turn of the century I started playing other instruments, too. My friends were amazed at how soon I could play these as poorly as the guitar.

Slowly completing my first four “real” instruments: two guitars and two ukuleles. The process would go faster if I didn't keep rebuilding clunkers and building “toys,” such as cigar box ukes and cookie tin banjos. (sample)

The OLF is a genuinely unique community of people. Bare-knuckle fights are rare and the sharing is magnificent.

Who could ask for more?

Still setting up my shop 2 years into this with too many unfinished guitars and more tools and zoot then space.
I am one of those oft disparaged trial lawyers...
Yep, me too.
Divorced-twice.
Same here.

I've been practicing law for 24 years...someday maybe I'll get it right and make some money at it. My kids say that we're not rich 'cause I'm an honest lawyer...hmmmmmm

Been a single father of five for ten years after my second marriage ended...there WON'T be a third: I'll just find a woman I already hate and give her my house

I just recently started dabbling in repair work on some yard-sale specials. As my skills and my shop progress I hope to do some building. In the meantime, I find myself checking out a lot of different sites and getting some great tips here.

Nak-a-doe-shish I know
Tub-o-lard to Michael!!

Actually, if you lived here, you would eventually say:
Nak-a-doe-chis. Not that the last syllable is accented, I'm only trying to highlight the subtle difference. One would say Nak-a-DOE-chis.

Now--take a stab at Natchitoches.

If you lived there, you'd say Nak-uh-tish.

Armed with these two pronunciations, you will surely be the life of the next party!

Steve
Nack-a-tish... I lived there for 6 years

Husband to Victoria, father to Jeff Jr. and Chris.
Step father to Brandon, Darrin, and Jennifer.
Grandfather to Summer, Katlyn, Justin, Austin, Aaron, Gavin, Katie, and Jada.
Kings Mountian N.C. (Hey Bill Greene. we are neighbors)
Mechanical draftsperson, cnc programmer, wood worker.
I play guitar, piano (beginner) and squareneck slide guitar (dobro).
I have built one dobro from mahogany and am nearly finished with my second dobro. It is cherry. The mahogany sounds great, but the cherry is beautiful.
I am beginning a walnut guitar, my first attempt at a real guitar.
