Ditto on the dry air deal. Very important.

Setting up to finish properly is a major investment. Even a used good booth is going to cost one or two grand, and then you'll want a grand into spray guns, a clean and warm curing area, the whole area and booth should have fire sprinklers, you need explosion proof lights, and then you need one or two good buffers, sanding gear, etc.   If you're only going to build a dozen guitars a year, it may just be more cost effective to send the work out.

Even the Dean Custom Shop sends twenty guitars a month to Addam Stark here for nitro, and that's transcontinental round trip. If they've figured the costs and subcontracting pays off for them, stop and think about whether it makes sense for you to do it.

Agreed concernong the regulators for controlling air pressure at your gun.
I'd recommend using the manufacturer's intended regulators for best
results. After spending $500+ on each of my guns, the $60 regulators
seemed like a small addition at the time.

   A drier is essential to good results, too.
