Math is fairly simple. Learning the language is the hard part. Once you understand what they are really saying, it all seems to fall into place. My problem is I'm terrible with languages.

I'm getting closer to starting my first one, no really, I am. After everything I've read and heard, I'd like to go with parabolic bracing. Would someone be willing to work with me? Sharing their bracing pattern, brace height and thickness sorts of things.

Bob,

Your top looks great, and I'm really interested in your upcoming "Bracing Smackdown!" Fine idea! Bet they'll both sound like guitars, though.

Hey Hesh! That's a work of art, man! You could make a good living by just building tops like that and selling them to the rest of us! "Got a run of L-OO's coming up...."

Yeah, I guess I am. I trust you guys won't lead me astray, well, not too much, well ok, not much. Ahhh, not intentionally? Oh crap, I am in trouble aren't I?

I'm sort of in the same boat as Lillian, wanting to use parabolic bracing on my first. I'll be shamelessly copying, borrowing and outright stealing everyones parabolic bracing patterns and measurements. I think I now have almost every single posted picture of parabolic bracing on my hard drive. But what I'd like is some more detailed brace measurements from you guys. If you don't mind sharing such secrets that is!
Who knows why things are called what they are called. I agree with your point, but to have a conversation and have everyone understand what you mean it is sometimes easier to use common terminology.

... at least I don't call it "kerfing" anymore.
Well said Brock! Though I disagree on one point -- it's best to use "kerfing" to keep Howark on edge ducking and running back to the hack archtop builders peanut gallery spot on the OLF

Very nice work!

The really funny thing is all the mumbo-jumbo above
makes just as much sense as the actual theory.
They still look like tapered braces with rounded tops
to me.

I know about pies, but I thought that cakes were cubed.

Joel and Lillian

These braces are for an OM so they're a fraction over 6mm wide and 12mm high at the X. Dreadnought would be 8mm x 12-14mm.

Thanks Kevin and Dave for the voicing insights. I had another listen to it today and there are no dead spots so I guess it's time to throw the top on it

And you other blokes obviously have too much time on your hands. Go and build some guitars or something.

Cheers

Bob

Thanks Bob. What are the dimensions of the finger braces and tone bars?

Just so that no one misunderstands....

There isn't anyone here that I do not trust completely. I know that all luthiery information is always on the the up and up.

Thanks Bob, just the kind of information I need.
