I have a dvd player and TV in my shop, some of my favorites to play in the background while I work:

Christopher Guest movies (Waiting for Guffman, Best in Show, A Mighty Wind)
Simpsons
Arrested Development
The Office (USA and UK)
documentaries and concert DVD's

I've always been nervous when I'v seen a TV in someone's shop pictures because of the possible visual distraction and resultant finger loss.

However, I've been re-considering my position on that lately. Couldn't have anything to do with the Master's starting tomorrow morning, could it?

I'm pretty careful, and I typically watch stuff that I've seen a million times and pretty much know by heart so I'm not really distracted by it. It's also nice to have for watching instructional DVD's right there in the shop.

I've been going through a U2 phase lately, and Tom Petty.

My three year old daughter asked me to play some Stevie Ray the other night. That blew me away
A three year old with such taste is a rare thing.
It's all a part of her musical education.

Neil's new one is actually old....Live at Massey Hall 1971....I think it's absolutely fantastic...

Especially when he introduces "Old Man" as a new tune....I feel really old....But to here Neil at 24.....WOW.....

Wow! I went to this thread, and amazed at how good all of your music tastes are!  Nowadays, that's not always true. I like David Lindley, Ry Cooder, amongst others. I also like to listen to, ME! (I'm working on a little cd project), to figure out what I'm doing right and wrong, and I like listening to friends of mine that have put some stuff out there. I recently have been listening to a guy named Steinar Gregertsen, who is a Norwegian lap-steeler, who I met on the IGS forum. That guy is really good! Alan.

I see there are a few other Tull heads here, and I think that Thick as a Brick is a true symphonic masterpiece, 45 minutes of one song- and that's how they recorded it back in '72. Well, they did split it in two for two sides of vinyl! But that record is truly amazing.

Ian Anderson (lead singer/guitarist/flute player) for Jethro Tull plays a Little Bitty Martin guitar that looks like a large uke. I have no idea what kind it is, but it sounds impressive!!!

I had bought a DVD of the band a while back and forgot about it but found it last week and watched the video. These guys are SUPER musicians and the music is riddled with key and timing changes that boggle the mind. I can read music and can play that way, but it slows me down and playing by ear is usually the way I play. I cant even grasp the technique this guy uses.

The other group, Newgrass Revival, are not together any more, but WOW what musicians !! If you havent ever heard them, check it out. This music is sorta like bluegrass on LSD or something, but if you play any stringed instrument at all you will be impressed at the talent this group has.  They have no drummer.. just 4 stringed instruments, but WOW you dont miss the drums at all. It isnt as "nasal" sounding as most bluegrass, but is more of a blend of bluegrass and heavy metal... if that can even happen. Sam Bush on mandolin and fiddle, Pat Flynn on guitar, Bela Fleck on banjo and John Cowan on bass... what a group!

I am a HUGE fan of James Taylor and Jimmy Buffet also. GREAT musicians...

We listen to many different types of music in the shop. Eastern acoustic the radio when no one brings in cds or an ipod. But whenever The beatles are being played all day it seems that everyone is in a much better mood than usual.
