I'll second Tim there.

Acacia Melanaloxyn grows right up the East coast of OZ but the trees that are more suited to luthiery generally come from Tasmania or Victoria.

This wood comes from an area that is maybe 3-400 km from where they harvest it in Tasmania. Similar rainfall and temperature If the trees grow further down the South on the west coast of Tas it will be much wetter. And maybe a little cooler.

I have heard people hear talk of regional variation within Victoria but as Tim stated I think it really depends on the individual tree.

I grew up and Tasmania and saw a lot of Blackwood from dark, light dense, not so dense etc. Same as here in Victoria.
