It's the same product no matter who carries it.  At one time, it was even available in the Wal-Mart sporting goods section.

Not to knock LMI, but they have to upcharge to make it worth their
while to carry some things.  You're better off ordering from them in quantity.  I hate to advocate using a big box store,
but if you just want to try the stuff out, then go pick up a 4 oz.
bottle.  Buy from LMI when/if you place a larger order or if you just want to say "thanks" for their educational articles.

Even Wal-Mart carries it in their sporting goods section.

Dave I've finished several complete guitars with it, but I still prefer polished lacquer for the top and tuning head.

I almost bought some from the Birchwood website.  An 8 oz. bottle was ~ $11.00.  However, shipping was $7.  I will support our sponsors on this one.

I'm not knocking LMI in any way.  I buy tons of stuff from them and I certainly understand upcharging.  But, when I can get it local for less, and save on shipping it's a no brainer.

I want to use it on the necks of two I am doing now.  I have used lacquer on every guitar I have built and thought it would be nice to try something different on the necks to maybe give them a little better feel.
