MichaelB: the new bridge was a function of asthetics. When people had one of my guitars in their hands, I almost always heard "wow that's a really thick bridge". The bridge was 3/8 on the money but looked "chunky" because there was no taper to it. I'll probably revisit it and work on the 3rd dimension to see if I can shape it a bit.

Thanks for replying Paul.

Interesting what a customer will comment on.

But a builder needs to be very cognizant of what the buying public will accept [or find unusual]I would guess. I see that Larrivee is now selling its standard line of guitars with tortoise pickguards. I guess even 25 years of putting great guitars in the world doesn't make you exempt from the traditions and expectations of the guitar market--even if it is silly.

I do like your new bridge design [I did not mean to imply i don't] it is just that I really like the old one! And I LOVE the lack of rosette on the top. Simple and elegant and very unique.

Hoping you can keep your guitars special and reflective of your unique vision... and still sell a ton of them!

Michael

Wow!, Paul
Truly elegant. I really like the end treatment on the sapelle guitar. Two questions: What are the necks made of and what kind of finish did you put on these. In the photos they look very satin like. Absolutely beautiful.

Ron, necks are 5 piece Mahogany, maple, walnut, maple, mahogany. The guitars are nitro and very glossy. We went to great lengths to photograph them without shines so that the wood would be highlighted rather than the glare. You'll still see some specular highlight on the edges and lightly on the necks. Unavoidable completely.

That's it...

I'm Staying Home

Nice work Paul...

Every single one of the guitars I'm taking has some flaw on it that I caught at a later time

OK, Paul,
After reading all those comments, I can't remember if anyone commented on the Sycamore or not. But I will--I really like it. I know there is a bit more eye candy on some others, but that Sycamore is really talking to me.
Nice work.

Very, very nice Paul. I'll vote for the sycamore as my favorite as well. I'm sure they all will be a big hit at HB. The unadorned soundholes really do make the grain of the top wood stand out and gives it more character. Almost forgot, that endgraft is a knockout.Don A38565.8430787037

Thanks again Don for the comments.
Don, I'm starting to agree with you. I like the Sycamore as well. It might be that that one has the fewest flaws but I'm really drawn to it.

Wonderful guitars, very elegant.

Who would have thought that in a thread with Ziricote, Koa and Quilted Sapele, Sycamore would get the rave reviews?

They're all nice. I think the subtlty of the Sycamore plays well to the understated elegance of the everything else.

A big WOW from Texas! Great work. Who said you need a rosette? I too like the sycamore. I just finished a resonator made of it furnished by the aforementioned Bob C. My only regret is that the word is out. That moderately priced set may not be so moderate next time I buy! Bob, are you there? Remember I`m on a fixed income!
