My favorite was getting the finish applied and realizing I had not drilled the peg head for the tuners, Then drilling the 3rd string peg hole 1 cm too high, and I measured twice.

It did look a little out of kilter. Looked a little bit like Jack Elam.

The worst I have done was to put my braced back on the top of my truck hood while loading up my truck and driving off. It fell off the hood, and luckily someone was nice enough to pick it up and put it by the trash can in an apartment complex. I didn't realize this until the next day! I back tracked and found it sitting next to a dumpster with mud and dirt on it. Just brushed it off and it worked beautifully!

The other was taking my bent sides and putting them next to each other and cutting the back angle into both sides. When I pulled them apart and put them in the mold, one had the angle on the top and one had it on the back I had to bend one side flat, then rebend. My bookmatch is not lined up near the end wedge, but no one will ever know, except for you 396 OLF members

I wasted a nice ebony fretboard on my last guitar. I had done some pearl inlaying in the fret board and all was fine until I was putting the final radius on the fret board. The inlays started slowly disappearing on the edges! I had forgotten to give it the final radius before I did the inlaying.
Stupid mistake.

After inlaying the back strip on the last guitar, I was cutting out the profile on the bandsaw and cut the cutaway out. Was looking at the nice inlayed back strip on the back when I noticed the cutaway was on the wrong side, no problem if it was for a lefty. I will never profile the back or top of a cutaway again until it is glued on the body. Sheesh.

Oh, how I would hate to waste time & space detailing every little thing that I have done wrong while building guitars.

If you go to http:/www.stormriders.com/guitar/telecaster you can read and see how many things I have hosed up while building guitars, electric and acoustic both. In fact, for my current project, I am just hoping to get a playable guitar out of the deal. Cosmetically, it is already ruined.

Take care and keep your spirits up.

I had my mind on a million other things today . Was on the phone while glueing a tone ring to the underside of a squareneck reso top ,...or I thought it was the underside .
I clamped it up went for a cup of coffee came back and realized I had glued the tone ring to my sealed top side ,..DARN IT !
The really goofy thing was ,..I had the back totally marked and laid out !

I guess God has to remind me how imperfect I really am somehow. LOL

This hurts , this really hurts ,...Im a type AAA ,..I never make a mistake ..........JesHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH !
