If using in rosette, with a spruce or cedar top, does the natural color of the top work as the light background?

I would think so Bob, as long as the top still has about 30-40 thou thickness (which it would have to have right). When I bind fretboards with tortoise, I use a 20 thou maple under it and its fine.

Back to the map stuff - drive due south of Detroit - you end up in Canada. I tell folks that I am going skiing up in Vermont (I live near Toronto) - even here they look at me funny, but its north of here !!!
