No Shane;
Let's let it stand for now. $39.00 ain't gonna blow the budget.
<<By the way Dan, I got vacuum yesterday, Yiii HAAAA!>>
Did your try the fridge compessor on your bridge clamp? If you are using hide glue, vacuum is the way to go... Way quicker than muddling with clamps through the soundhole.

On the blade, I tried my 3.5" stabilizers on my neighbours 10 General International Cabinet saw and it has a bit of runout I think the slots were just a bit wide (I could get an extra 1.5 thou gauge in). So I went to where I have Delta Unisaw soredd and tried it on that. It was right on the money! I put some LMI fretwire in the slot and it looks just right to me. So I think a 6" blade with 5" stabilizers will be even better, less exposed blade.

I hooked the bridge clamp up to the compressor and tried it on a piece of MDF, plywood and Aluminum. You were right about seeming to suck through MDF, either that or it is too smooth to get a good seal. But anyway, it worked great so I am going to remove, clean and reglue the loose bridge on my 12 string using this system. Thanks for the help!

Shane

Thanks,

Thanks guys, we need just a few (10 or so) more people and I will get the order out. Tony Karol may look after that with his students . I am also letting some of my regular customers know about this to see if I can get some of them interested as well.

I am also going to build a sled and indexing templates, probably based on Benedetto, and I will supply some destructions ( ) on how to build one for your saw with each blade that goes out if there is a desire for that.

Shane[/QUOTE]

I would also be very interested in this.

Well I have campaigned some of my other customers and we have enough for an order. I will wait until the end of the week to make sure that everyone gets a chance to get in on this. One of my customers/friends, Ted Thompson of Thompson Guitars is taking a few of them as he uses them for anything fine, like cross cutting baces where they intersect and for ganging up for linings and the like. So there are some other options for these blades. Also, I am going to change the tooth count from 150 to 110. Stew-macs blade has 100 teeth for a 6" blade. I have a 5" with 100 teeth that is perfect so I think we should keep the spacing the similiar.

Thanks

Shane

Cool.

Shane do you know if Ted is an internet type guy. Maybe you could invite him to the OLF. He would be a great resource to add to the already great list of people here.

He builds some nice guitars. Weeew.Rod True38719.8843981481

Nope, Ted is not even an e-mail guy. But MAN does he ever have a lot of really neat ideas and fixtures. I bounce a lot of my goofy ideas off of him. He has been doing this for a long time and for a while developed a bunch of fixtures to do a bunch of piece work for Larrivee. Ted is a very bright boy and does build wonderful guitars! He is very particular in his material selection and in his building process.

Wish I could get him here....

Shane

Nope, that was just the one I have by this manufacturer. The ones we are getting are:

6" Diametre
110 teeth
.025" kerf +/- .0005"
5/8" Arbor

Sorry for the confusion!

Hello all, my name is Kim and I am located in Western Australia.

This is my first post here, but I have been watching and learning from you all for a while, the forum is a big leg up for the noobs and I am most grateful to all for your interesting input.

Being able to take part in group buys is the icing on the cake and a huge bonus, especially if like myself, you are just setting up. Sincerest thanks Shane for doing all the leg work and making this great buy possible.

Intro over, I would also like one blade and a set of destructions shipped to AU.

Shane, could you please let me know the extra shipping cost.

Cheers all

Kim (Ball-bearing not Childbearing)

Great! Thanks Tony. I will wait until Friday to place the order but I will order some extras anyway, so there will be some available for those who didn't quite get in on time.
