Sure customers come will back wanting this or that tweaked, but that usually has to do with the setup. I certainly don't think it is common for players to want braces shaved and stuff like that after building (not in my experience at least). Besides if a player is getting a custom made guitar they should know what they want before they buy it. I wouldn't want someone to build me a guitar and then have to take it back so they could tweak it by doing work that should have been done before the box was closed. Doing work inside the box after it is closed is a real pain.

It is, which is what I think the guy Coe was talking to was thinking about when he mentioned it being shaved down upon hotrodding.

BINGO, Larry. That`s exactly what he meant. He`s quite knowledgeable on Martin guitars, and has seen used models in the past being advertised as "having the popcicle brace removed". That`s where that came from, and I misinterpreted it as being the upright braces on the sides.

Cocephus trust me on this one. The most critical reviews of your work will come from those who have never bent a side, or even done a good setup. They usually play $200.00 imports, and would'nt know a good guitar if it bit them on the hinie.
Just ignore him, your work looks fine. My first neck, and tail blocks were too big also, but some people talk, and others build. Just keep on building, make mistakes, and learn from them, and learn from those who have been there , done that. I am not a seasoned veteran, but I have completed 7 acoustic guitars with 4 more in progress. Some of the guys on this forum have been building forever, and have hundreds of fine instruments under their belts.

Keep building, and have fun         &nb sp;     Al
don`t quite a few customers return later on wanting a little shave here or a tweak there?
I think that happens most when it's the builder who wants to make a change that experience tells him or her will make an improvement. Usually the instruments that get tweaked in that manner at the request of the owner are factory-built. If someone is demanding that you sell him your guitar, it means he likes it as it is!
Also, you think the back braces should go a little thinner?
Not necessarily. It's hard to tell from the photo, but they look okay as they are. What does your ear tell you when you tap the back? If it sounds good, it is good!
